Kozantei Ubuya 湖山亭うぶや

Kozantei Ubuya is the number 1 onsen hotel in Kawaguchiko. They're known for spectacular Mt. Fuji onsen view, impeccable service, beautiful rooms and exquisite kaiseki meals. The price is on the high end but once you're there and see the Mt. Fuji in your own onsen, you won't regret it!

I highly recommend to come here during the winter times as there's more clear skies to increase your chance of seeing Mt. Fuji. It is possible where you can't see Mt. Fuji when it's cloudy so the view is really what makes this onsen experience over the top. Each room has 2 sets of yukata outfit which you can wear everywhere in the hotel. Once you arrive at Kawaguchiko Station, you can ask the receptionist to call the hotel and they'll arrange a free shuttle bus pick up.

Kozantei Ubuya's traditional kaiseki dinner is amazing! Each guest gets to choose their main dish and we went for the A5 Wagyu beef and abalone. Aside from the main, each guest would get their own set of apps, soup, side dishes and dessert so it gets pretty filling. Typically a kaiseki dinner at a restaurant is ¥15,000 - ¥30,000 per person so it's definitely worth opting for the Half Board option when breakfast and dinner is included during your stay.

Kozantei Ubuya serves the traditional Japanese breakfast with grilled fish, tamago, rice and pickled vegetables. It doesn't look like a lot of food but it's really filling. It's all about the meals whenever you're staying at the onsen hotel!

On most hotel websites, Kozantei Ubuya only releases the basic rooms to list for bookings. If you want the premium rooms with private onsen and different meal plans, it's best to book directly with the hotel. Either by email or if you can manage to navigate their Japanese website, you'll have a lot more options.
